Phrasal Verbs
Phrasal Verbs หรือ กริยาวลี หรือ Two-word verbs คือ กลุ่มคำที่ประกอบด้วย คำกริยา ตามด้วย adverb หรือ preposition และมีความหมายต่างไปจากคำกริยาเดิม Phrasal Verbs อาจจะแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ประเภทใหญ่ ๆ คือ

1. Phrasal Verbs ที่แยกจากกันได้
   - กรรมของประโยคที่เป็นคำนาม อาจจะต่อท้าย หรือแทรกอยู่ตรงกลาง Phrasal Verbs ก็ได้ แต่ถ้ากรรม เป็นกลุ่มคำยาว ๆ จะอยู่ต่อจาก Phrasal เช่น
   
   You have to do this paint job over.
   You have to do over this paint job.
   คุณต้องทาสีงานนี้ใหม่อีกครั้ง
   You have to do over this ridiculous paint job.
   คุณต้องทาสี งานสีที่ดูแปลกประหลาดใหม่อีกครั้ง
   - แต่ถ้ากรรม เป็นคำสรรพนาม เช่น him her me them it เป็นต้น Phrasal Verbs ต้องแยกกัน
   You have to do it over. ✔
   You have to do over it. ✘
   คุณต้องทำงานใหม่อีกครั้ง
   
   
2. Phrasal Verbs ที่แยกจากกันไม่ได้
   Phrasal Verbs ประเภทนี้ จะอยู่คู่กันเสมอ ส่วนที่เป็นกรรม จะต่อจาก Phrasal Verb ไม่ว่าจะเป็นคำนาม หรือคำสรรพนามก็ตาม เช่น
   
   The students went over the material before the exam.
   They should have gone over it twice.
   นักเรียนได้ทบทวนตำราก่อนสอบ เขาน่าที่จะได้ทบทวนมัน สองเที่ยว
   
   
3. Phrasal Verbs ที่ไม่ต้องมีกรรมมารองรับ
   คำ Phrasal Verbs จำพวกนี้ มีความหมายเบ็ดเสร็จในตัว ไม่ต้องมีอะไรมาต่อท้าย ก็รู้เรื่อง เช่น
   
   He was hit on the head very hard, but after several minutes, he started to come to again.
   เขาถูกตีที่ศีรษะอย่างแรง, แต่หลังจากที่เวลาผ่านไปหลายนาที, เขาก็เริ่มที่จะฟื้นคืนสติมาได้อีกครั้ง

The terrorists tried to blow up the railroad station. ผู้ก่อการร้ายพยายามที่จะระเบิดสถานีรถราง
bring up	เลี้ยงดู	แยกได้
It isn't easy to bring up children nowadays. มันไม่ใช่เรื่องง่าย ในการเลี้ยงดูเด็ก ทุกวันนี้
call off	ยกเลิก	แยกได้
They called off this afternoon's meeting. เขายกเลิกการประชุมบ่ายวันนี้แล้ว
call on	เรียกให้ตอบ(ครู/นักเรียน)	แยกไม่ได้
The teacher called on students in the back row. ครูเรียกนักเรียนแถวหลังให้ตอบ
call on	เยี่ยม	แยกไม่ได้
Somsak called on his sick mother at the hospital yesterday. สมศักดิ์ไปเยี่ยมแม่ ที่โรงพยาบาล เมื่อวานนี้
call up	โทรศัพท์	แยกได้
My mother call me up last night. แม่ฉันโทรมาหาฉัน เมื่อคืนนี้
come back	กลับ	แยกได้
You can come back here any time you want to. คุณสามารถกลับมาที่นี่ได้ ตลอดเวลา ที่คุณต้องการ
come over	ไป/มาหา	แยกไม่ได้
Is your family coming over from Greece for the wedding? ครอบครัวของคุณจะมาจากประเทศกรีซ ในงานแต่งไหม?
count on	พึ่งได้	แยกไม่ได้

keep on	ทำต่อไป	แยกไม่ได้

look over	ตรวจสอบ	แยกได้

look up	ค้นหาข้อมูล/ความจริง เช่น ค้นหาความหมายของคำ	แยกได้

make out	เข้าใจ/สำเร็จ	แยกได้

make up	สร้างขึ้น	แยกได้
